Business Pitch Episode Recap

Dr. Nancy Tanchel is the CEO of Hells Bells, and Marix Stone is the designer and creator. They came into Shark Tank and asked for $500k for 20% equity at a $2.5 million valuation.

Marix demonstrated his custom-designed helmets, but he was quite nervous, making it difficult for him to speak openly at the beginning.

Nancy explained that they have a utility patent for 3-dimensional designs on all types of sports helmets. She also mentioned that this year, they have generated $300,000 in sales solely from motorcycle helmets.

She also mentioned that they need the investment to meet demand by enabling mass production. Each helmet has a profit margin of 50%. She estimated that by the end of 2009, their sales could reach approximately $1.75 million.

Kevin Harrington and Kevin O’Leary don’t see profit potential in this business, so they are out. Barbara Corcoran declined to invest because she didn’t like the business.

Daymond John offered $500k for 50% equity with one condition: he would engage in licensing deals with various companies regarding the product.

Robert Herjavec acknowledged that Daymond’s offer was good, so he decided to step out of the deal. Nancy and Marix accepted Daymond’s offer.
