Business Pitch Episode Recap
Alyssa and Zach explained their business to the Sharks and demonstrated how their patent-pending product helps people easily reach the roof of cars. They asked the Sharks for $150k in exchange for 5% equity, valuing their company at $3,000,000.
The idea to create this product came from Zach. Initially, they generated $110,000 in sales from a 30-day Kickstarter campaign. Zach explained that during the campaign, the selling cost of the product was $40-$50, and the landed cost was $10.54. Additionally, their total sales amounted to $116,000.
Zach revealed that he has a licensing deal guaranteeing $3 million over 7 years, plus a 12.5% royalty. Zach and his uncle have already invested $30,000 in the business. His uncle will receive a $1 royalty for each piece sold for an additional 8 years.
Kevin O’Leary said the product is too expensive and should cost $19.95. He is out.
Daymond John offered $450k for 20% equity. Alyssa and Zach were interested in selling their entire company for $3 million. Daymond then revised his offer to $3 million for the whole company.
The deal was finalized.

Moki Doorstep Shark Tank Update
Although the deal was completed on Shark Tank, further research revealed that Daymond John later canceled the deal and no longer wanted to buy the entire company.
Zach revealed on the show that they had a $3 million licensing deal. After Daymond broke the deal, Zach continued with the original licensing offer.
Similar products to Moki Doorstep were already listed on Amazon and other popular e-commerce sites. However, since Zach held the patent for the product, he had those duplicate products removed from Amazon.
At the start of the business, Zach partnered with the outdoor product manufacturer Rightline Gear. In November 2021, MacNeill Pride Group acquired Rightline Gear, although the amount of the acquisition has not been disclosed.
The Moki Doorstep product is still being sold on Amazon and is generating an estimated $1 million in annual sales.
