Business Pitch Episode Recap
Lyle asked the Sharks for $100,000 for 50% equity, valuing his company at $200,000. He explained his invention, the Heat Helper, which helps direct warm air from electric dryers into the room instead of outside.
Lyle created this device to help his wife, who hurt her back and had trouble bending to move laundry because the dryer was too low. The Heat Helper was designed to raise the height of the dryer to alleviate this problem.
Robert Herjavec asked Lyle about his day job, and Lyle explained that he is a drains contractor. He mentioned that the Heat Helper is just a side business for him.
The company has sold 680 units of the product exclusively through its online website at $99 each. Currently, the product is available at Lowe’s retail chain and Walmart in the Derby area. Last year, the company sold 20 units.
Daymond John does not believe this is a real investment opportunity, so he is out.
Kevin O’Leary said it is not a huge business, so he is out.
Barbara Corcoran said Lyle is more focused on his primary business, so she is out.
Robert said that it is not an investable business at this time, so he is out.
Mark Cuban doesn’t see any opportunity in this business, so he is out.
