There are 12.6% of people in the world who like to drink coffee. It has benefits like boosting energy levels, aiding in weight management, and promoting heart health, but its disadvantages include jitters and the potential to exacerbate panic or anxiety disorders.
Co-Founders Orleatha Smith and Kelly Raulerson realized that their morning coffee routine was having a negative impact on their health and they needed an alternative to coffee to break the habit. Both of them are entrepreneurs and belong to different backgrounds as Orleatha has been a biology teacher and Kelly has been a content director.
After spending a decade researching and learning, they created a Coffee Alternative Product by mixing herbal ingredients such as dandelion root, chicory root, and carob, and named it ‘Faux Joe‘.
This Plant-based herbal product is gluten-free, unsweetened, non-acidic, KETO-certified, and can be cold-brewed. In 2020, Sip Herbals officially launched its brand with the mission of making individuals’ morning routines healthier by providing them with rich and toasted flavors in hot or cold beverages.

What Is the Background of The Co-Founder?
After completing her Bachelor of Arts in Science Education degree from Western Governors University, Co-Founder Orleatha Smith began teaching at Millikan High School as a biology teacher.
Kelly Raulerson studied English Language and Literature/Letters at Northern Arizona University. In 2014, she and her partner Orleatha started a Meal Planning System Business named ’20 Dishes,’ and in 2018, they began another business called ‘InclusivePay.’ However, both businesses closed within a few years.
On October 31, 2020, they launched a campaign for their coffee alternative product on Kickstarter and raised $7,083 from 144 backers.

On “Shark Tank,” Orleatha introduced Faux Joe, a product that looks like tea but tastes like coffee. She asked the Sharks for $100k for 10% equity at a $1 million valuation. Each Faux Joe bag costs $3.44 to make and is sold retail for $19 to $24. She revealed that they are tracking towards $250,000 in sales this year.
Lori Greiner said that the business wasn’t currently investable. Therefore, she decided to opt out of the deal. Daymond John, Mark Cuban, and Kevin O’Leary all said that the this business has not investable for them, leading them to opt out. Candace Nelson also declined to fund the business.
Unfortunately, all the Sharks declined to invest in this business, so Orleatha had to leave without making a deal.
