Amblyopia is a disorder found in approximately 1 in 45 children, according to research. It can lead to vision loss during childhood. However, the good news is that it is treatable by wearing an eye patch over the stronger eye to strengthen the vision in the weaker eye.
Mom entrepreneur Paige Brattin pitched her company, Worthy Brands, on Shark Tank Season 15, offering uniquely designed and more comfortable patches that are perfectly shaped for this purpose.
She needs the Sharks’ help to bring her uniquely designed patches to children suffering from vision loss. But did the Sharks invest in her company and help her achieve this goal? Let’s find out what happened.

What Is the Background of The Founder?
Paige Brattin is the founder of Worthy Brands, a company that creates eye patches for children with vision loss. She founded the company in March 2017. Paige earned her MA from the University of New Hampshire and is currently a volunteer at Project Vision Hawai’i.
Business Pitch Episode Recap
Paige Brattin asked the Sharks for $250,000 in exchange for 10% equity in her company. While demonstrating her product, she shared that when her daughter Eddy was 5 years old, she was diagnosed with refractive amblyopia, a condition that causes childhood vision loss.
Although it is treatable using eye patches, Paige found that the patches available in the market were uninspiring and uncomfortable. This led her to start her own eye patch company, Worthy Brands.
Candace Nelson asked how many children in the United States are facing this issue. Paige responded that approximately 2 million children are affected.
Kevin O’Leary asked how long and how often children need to wear these patches. Paige explained that the duration varies for each diagnosis. Some children need to wear patches for 2 hours a day for 6 months, while her daughter Eddy had to wear them for 8 hours a day for 6 years.
Mark Cuban shared his experience, explaining that when he was 11 years old, his father lost an eye due to an accident. As a result, his father had to deal with wearing patches most of the time.
Kevin asked about sales, and Paige explained that in 2019, her sales were $150,000. Over the last four years, total sales reached $1.7 million, with this year’s sales (2023) being under $200,000.
Each box contains 50 patches, with a landed cost of $7. Paige sells them for $27.50 on her website and $28.50 on Amazon.
To sell her product, Paige doesn’t spend much on social media marketing. Instead, she attends pediatric ophthalmology conferences where she informs doctors about her product. These doctors then recommend her patches to their clients, who can purchase them from Amazon or her website.
Kevin said that he uses the products from the deals he makes on Shark Tank, and since he wouldn’t be able to use this product, he is out.
Mark believes that Paige is already doing a great job on her own and doesn’t need a partner, so he is out.
Daymond John also believes that the business doesn’t need additional partners, so he is out.
Lori Greiner feels that the business isn’t the right investment for her, so she is out.
Candace agrees with Mark’s point of view, so she is also out.
