During floods, people often use sandbags to protect their homes and property from damage, but this requires a lot of physical effort. As a better alternative, Maurice Huffman and Miles Huffman invented the Sandless Sandbag.
The StormBag is a sandbag made from absorbent polymer material. Each bag weighs one pound and can absorb four gallons of water in just 3-5 minutes, increasing its weight to 30 pounds.
To offer a better alternative for people and advance their business journey, Maurice and Miles Huffman pitched their Sandless Sandbag on Shark Tank Season 15. Did any of the Sharks invest in their business? Let’s find out what happened next.

What Is the Background of The Founder?
StormBag is a product of Swiss-Link, Inc., a company primarily focused on selling military surplus wholesale. The company was founded by Maurice Huffman in May 1994, and his son, Miles, serves as the Chief Financial Officer. Miles is also a graphic designer.
In 2018, a tragedy struck when a wildfire in Paradise, California, completely destroyed their home. After this incident, the father and son teamed up to work together and continue building their business.
Business Pitch Episode Recap
Maurice and Miles asked the Sharks for $200,000 in exchange for 10% equity in their company, valuing it at $2 million. They demonstrated their product, the Sandless Sandbag called StormBag, and explained how it can help prevent flooding. They emphasized that StormBag is more effective and reusable compared to traditional sandbags.
Kevin O’Leary asked if they had made any money. Miles responded by saying that in 2023, they had made $90,000 in sales, all without any marketing efforts. Miles expressed his belief that the business has the potential to generate millions of dollars.
Lori Greiner asked about the product’s cost. Miles explained that the current manufacturing cost is $2 per bag, but with larger-scale production and better equipment, the cost could be reduced to $1.75. Each bag is sold for $5.50. Compared to traditional sandbags, the StormBag is free.
Kevin said that the product faces competition from free sandbags, so he is out.
Daniel Lubetzky said that he and Daymond John are interested in the business and made an offer of $200,000 for 40% equity.
Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner teamed up to offer $200,000 for 30% equity. Daniel Lubetzky and Daymond John matched the offer, also seeking 30% equity.
Maurice and Miles had a brief discussion and decided to accept the offer from Lori and Mark of $200k for 30% equity.
