Business Pitch Episode Recap
Aaron Ross and Sanya Richards-Ross asked the Sharks for $100,000 in exchange for 10% equity in their lifestyle apparel company, valuing it at $1 million. They entered the Shark Tank with their family and showcased their product to the Sharks.
When Mark Cuban first saw Aaron, he immediately recognized him as a former NFL player. Aaron and Sanya shared their experiences in sports, business, and entrepreneurship with the Sharks.
Robert Herjavec, an investor in former Shark Tank company Tipsy Elves, which sells matching pajamas and t-shirts, understands the growth potential of this industry. He asked the entrepreneurs about the company’s sales and selling platforms.
Sanya shared that they started with their Christmas collection last year and now offer multiple collections, selling exclusively through their online store.
The company achieved $25,000 in sales within 1 month and $55,000 within 3 months. The manufacturing cost for men’s Christmas sets is $27, while the selling price is $89.
Lori Greiner pointed out that the price seemed too high. However, the highlight is that Sanya, a Gold Medal Olympian, has successfully secured a license for the Olympics.
Kevin O’Leary said this wasn’t his space, so he was out. Mark Cuban mentioned he isn’t a clothing guy, so he also opted out.
Lori Greiner explained that she doesn’t have much experience in the clothing industry, so she was out as well. Daymond John felt the business was still in its early stages, so he decided not to invest.
Robert Herjavec didn’t see a strong brand in Aaron and Sanya’s company, but he still made an offer of $100,000 for 25% equity. Sanya countered with $100,000 for 20% equity, and Robert accepted the deal.
