During her first pregnancy, Deidrea felt humiliated and insecure because she had to wear a nasty, chemical-smelling hospital gown. To solve this problem, she created Hot Mama Gowns, a business that offers 100% organic cotton, soft, and fully body-covering gowns for mothers.
She wants to expand her gowns business, so she appeared on Shark Tank Season 2 to seek money and expertise from the Sharks. Did any of the Sharks invest in her business? Let’s find out.

Business Pitch Episode Recap
Deidrea asked the Sharks for $30k for 20% equity, valuing her business at $150,000. She demonstrated her gown product and compared it to a regular hospital gown.
Since 2009, the total sales have been $11,500. This made Daymond John confused because Deidrea’s company is valued at $150k, but the sales figures don’t seem to justify that valuation.
Barbara asked about the product’s price. In response, Deidrea explained that the price is high because the product is manufactured in small quantities. The retail price of the product is $190, while the manufacturing cost is $49.
Robert Herjavec said that Deidrea is a great sales representative but lacks information about business growth and advertising costs.
Kevin O’Leary said that Deidrea lacks data on customer acquisition and business growth. He also noted that the business is not yet established and is currently just an idea. Therefore, he is out.
Daymond John said that Deidrea “has all the answers”, so he is out.
Robert Herjavec told Deidrea, “You haven’t been able to answer the investor’s questions,” so he is out.
Deidrea is running her business part-time, so Kevin Harrington said he cannot join with a part-time business and is out.
Barbara Corcoran offered $30k for 40% equity, with the condition to launch small, medium, and large size gowns. Deidrea said 40% was too high, so Barbara is out.
