Business Pitch Episode Recap
Brandi asked the Sharks for $500,000 in exchange for 10% equity in her company. While demonstrating her study board game for kids, she revealed that after her divorce, she started the business from her mom’s basement. In just 13 months, her business generated total sales of $3.2 million.
Lori Greiner asked Brandi about the source of her sales. Brandi explained that 85% of her sales come from Amazon, while 15% are generated through her official website.
At the beginning of her business, she gave over 100 teachers a demo of her board game, which provided her with valuable feedback on how to improve the game and create new versions. Her primary marketing platform was TikTok, which drove significant traffic to her Amazon page, helping her product rank higher on Amazon.
Kevin O’Leary inquired about customer acquisition and product costs. Brandi shared that the landed cost for “The Fidget Game: Sight Word” is $3.89, while “Word Pop” costs $3.45. Both games are sold for $29.99. The customer acquisition cost is $6.80, and the Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) is 2.6 for her website and 3.7 for Amazon.
The company’s net margin is 25%, but last month it increased to 32%. Brandi projected a profit of $1.25 million for 2023. Lori Greiner asked, “Tell me, why do you need a shark?” Brandi responded that she needed the Sharks for two main reasons: product expansion into international markets and mentorship in business planning.
Barbara offered $500,000 but wanted 20% equity in the company. Brandi countered with 15% equity, and Barbara accepted the offer, sealing the deal.
